“Bushwacked” is not an episode I rewatch. In fact, I think I’ve only seen it twice before. It’s fucking scary and gross and it freaks me out. Watching it again I discovered something interesting: it’s extremely good. ( Reavers ain't men. Or they forgot how to be. )

I really thought I had the outline for season three figured out. And then I saw this week’s episode. Now, I’m completely confused about where they’re going and frankly, I love it. Having just finished the fifth Sookie book, Dead as a Doornail, I started thinking about where they’re going to go with True Blood, now that they’re nearing the end of the arcs based on Living Dead in Dallas. Speculation on the show with spoilers through that book, the short story in the Bite anthology, and this week’s episode. ( Here I go! )

I’m not sure why I took such a long break from this show. Yes, it started out due to my newfound True Blood obsession but then once I was caught up I still didn’t go back to it. It’s more difficult to critically review the episodes that are *actually* good, as I pointed out with my True Blood posts. I don’t really have a lot to say about “Balance of Terror”. I love the feel of the chess game between the two captains. I love that it’s essentially a submarine movie; that Hunt for the Red October obviously owes a lot to it ( Read more... )

I finished watching the last two episodes of the first season of True Blood last night, "To Love is to Bury" and "You'll Be the Death of Me". I am apparently incapable of not watching an entire disc of True Blood as soon as it arrives. I blasted through "Sparks Fly Out", "Cold Ground", and "Burning House of Love" all in one night. I was very excited to watch more True Blood last night. I ended up watching both “Mine” and “Escape From Dragon House”. I like how they used Tara and Sam to explain Sookie’s internal monologue about why it’s nice/easier to be around Bill since she can’t hear his thoughts.
